PISANI + NATUZZI
pisani's art meets italian design
until Christmas 2011
Natuzzi, the elegant and innovative Italian design company recently invited me to paint one of their leather chairs... I'm happy to announce, in coordination with the opening of Natuzzi's new flagship store in Zurich, my "Natuzzi" chair is currently on display at Talstrasse 9, in this beautiful new location until Christmas 2011.
In partnership with the ART BANKING CLUB Zurich.
The process was a fresh and exciting one that I was happy to take part in and experiment with. My inspiration, however, was already long a part of me:
My Natuzzi Chair...

At first glance, a chair may seem quite simple-a ubiquitous piece of every home. However, for me, an artist that draws inspiration from exotic destinations, I see different forms of chairs just about everywhere. In a car, plane, boat, bus, train, tuk-tuk, or even at a boarding gate just waiting… Chairs are often where I spend time anticipating my next arrival.
Back at home, a chair is my place to ponder potential voyages while smiling brightly, or blissfully reflect about the pleasures of past journeys already complete. On this chair, I was inspired to portray the stories of my recent adventures intertwined with new potential places yet to be discovered-a journal and a wish list forever sealed in red and blue and brown. For me, a chair is a place to relax, rest, and dream… After all, I have long believed that "Every Great Journey Begins with a Dream."
LOCATION: Natuzzi, Talstrasse 9, 8001, Zurich.
On the corner of the Börsenstrasse and Talstrasse in downtown Zurich (across the street from the Rive Gauche restaurant).

“oh sweet serendipity”
an artist's journey across the magical island of sri lanka
"Under the patronage of the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations Office at Geneva"
In early February 2007, I set out to explore Sri Lanka. *Serendipity itself seems to have led me there. Armed with only a guidebook and my backpack, I kept everything spontaneous and let serendipity take care of me along the way. I had no set itinerary and no reservations, and that’s just the way I liked it. “Oh Sweet Serendipity” is a collection of paintings and photographs inspired from this adventure.
*Serendipity — the phenomenon of making fortunate accidents by chance was formed by English author Horace Walpole from the word Serendib, an Arabic name for Sri Lanka, in reference to a Persian tale, The Three Princes of Serendib, whose heroes "discovered, quite unexpectedly, great and wonderful good in the most unlikely of situations, places and people."
